Major Expansion for Millbray Group

Essex-based Millbray Group has acquired a new site to help facilitate increased demand and streamline its operations.

The established haulier has expanded its operation with the addition of a new 5,000 sq ft satellite branch, which has become home to its pallet network division.

Its APC Overnight parcel division will continue operating from its existing branch in Ilford, with the additional capacity allowing for immediate growth on both sides of the business, as well as enhancing the service offered to existing customers.

The expansion also coincided with the business joining the Pall-Ex network, having been a member of its sister network, Fortec Distribution, for over 20 years.

Millbray Group’s Greater London location has seen the business become an instrumental part of Pall-Ex Group’s London Project; an initiative designed to overcome the final-mile delivery challenges presented by the capital city.

Frank Gee, Managing Director at Millbray Group, commented: “The London Project has helped to strengthen Pall-Ex Group’s operation across the capital, which has created a much more efficient and robust service for customers across the country. This has generated more volume in the network and in turn created more deliveries for each depot, including us.

“We required a new site to help us handle the increased demand, and by separating our parcel and pallet divisions, we have been able to create a much more focused operation.”

The London Project has streamlined supply chains in the capital by removing issues with subcontractors and multi-network operators and introduced cost-efficiencies for customers, while delivering a much-improved service in the area.

The upcoming introduction of ETAs to Pall-Ex Group’s freight tracking software will help to further strengthen the business’s pallet network offering. With customers now used to the real-time visibility offered by the parcel sector, it is vital that hauliers can meet and exceed the expectations of their customers when it comes to their pallet deliveries.

Frank added: “Our local operations and customer services teams use their wealth of knowledge to deliver an outstanding service. Having been in the area for 30 years, we know our customers and the routes required to achieve 100% delivery success.”

Craig Chapman, Network Director for the South at Pall-Ex Group, commented: “We are delighted that Millbray have chosen to grow with the Pall-Ex Group. Strategically situated in the East London / Essex area, they are best placed to offer enhanced service levels to our networks. Both Pall-Ex and Fortec will undoubtedly see the benefits of Millbray’s growth as they continue to demonstrate their fantastic service ethos. We look forward to a long and successful future partnership.”
